For BWGM, Binnies are currently looking for a Site Manager to be based on the Maresfield project. You will be expected to have a full understanding of the construction of electrical, mechanical, civil and process elements of the project. From planning stage, through construction and up to commissioning.

The Role Of The Site Manager Will Include

  • Assist with Project delivery & commissioning on an ongoing basis.
  • Continually develop and improve project communication and performance within the Projects and Construction teams.
  • Demonstrate compliance with UK Specifications & Industry best practice.
  • Work in accordance with all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
  • Provide construction resourcing planning and strategy at bid stage.
  • Contribute to ‘Project Execution Plan’.
  • Help develop the Construction Phase of H&S plans on winning bids.
  • Implementation of the Construction Phase H&S plans.
  • Liaise with internal and external Project Managers to manage all EICA & Mechanical installation.
  • Develop programmes, RAMS and lifting plans.
  • Develop Project Quality Plan and Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Review and approve site construction RAMS provided by sub-contractors and supervisors.
  • Liaise with Client Operations Teams throughout the construction phase.
  • Receive, manage and issue drawings for construction at site level.
  • Check construction meets the requirements of design.
  • Work with Supervisors to ensure safe, efficient compliant site delivery, with maximised resource utilisation.
  • Oversee, co-ordinate and manage all completions up to pre-commissioning.
  • Manage all sub-contractor onsite activities.
  • Manage internal direct reports for all EICA & Mechanical Construction teams.
  • Provide input into EICA & Mechanical & Process design reviews where required.
  • Provide all documentation, resources, tools, materials, consumables H&S equipment and transport to ensure safe and efficient construction.
  • Provide a 1 week and 3 weeks look ahead.
  • Manage & co-ordinate the delivery, safe handling, offloading and storage of materials.


Manage & co-ordinate Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) as required.

  • Ensure working compliance to bWGM Electrical Site Rules and Mechanical Site Rules.
  • Manage and co-ordinate all applicable test equipment required for the delivery of an SAT ensuring all certification is available for review when requested.
  • Manage the delivery of all ‘as built’ documentation throughout the onsite construction & commissioning phases.
  • Complete site auditing & inspections as required ensuring the highest standard of quality is maintained.
  • Assist in the delivery of training plans are developed and delivered through site operations structure.
  • Provide project reporting to Construction Manager on a weekly basis including program progress and change of scope requirements.
  • Assume financial and timescale responsibility with regards to the construction.
  • Always working towards or introducing better/smarter ways of working.
  • Represent the construction team at meetings and complete meeting outcomes where required.
  • Ensure the continued compliance in relation to Health, Safety and Environmental within the business stream.
  • Ensure the continued compliance in relation to quality within the business stream and provide advice for continual improvement based on project delivery “lessons learnt”.
  • Work with all areas across the business to ensure compliance with processes and delivery of service.
  • Supervise and develop members of the construction team, including mentoring and coaching, conducting appraisals and identifying development needs.
  • Delivery of toolbox talks at a site level.
  • Ensure a high level of productivity is achieved on site with efficient utilisation of labour, plant and material.
  • Drive and lead procurement of materials through creation and review of bill of materials.
  • Evaluate, organise and prioritise workload within the schedule.
  • Expected to train to Approved Person (AP) level in relation to Electrical Safety Rules (ESR) and Isolation Safety Rules (ISR) where appropriate to the role.
  • To carry out the duties of the Approved Person (AP), meeting the respective technical standard.
  • Expected to train to API (Approved Person Isolation) in relation to Isolation Safety Rules (ISR) where appropriate to the role.
  • To carry out the duties of API (Approved Person Isolation) meeting the respective technical standard if required.
  • Expected to train to Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWC) level in relation to the bWGM Temporary Works Procedures.
  • To carry out the duties of the Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWC), meeting the respective technical standard.
  • Duties and responsibilities are assigned under bWGM Engineering management system and the Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWC) is expected to follow the mandatory temporary works procedures as described in the bWGM Engineering Procedures.
  • The Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWC) is responsible to the Managing Director for ensuring the TW design is implemented and in accordance with the drawings and specifications.
  • As Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWC) you confirm that you are competent and have the relevant up-to-date training and both the qualifications and experience appropriate to the complexity of the project and operations for which you are responsible.
  • The Designated Individual (DI) will confirm you have the resources and time available to carry out the appointment of Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWC) as well as the authority to stop the work if not satisfactory.


Knowledge/Experience

  • Confined space training to medium risk as a minimum.
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card Holder.
  • Valid SMSTS 5 day course completion.
  • First aid at work training.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor certificate
  • Experience in safety management controls for construction works in general site conditions.
  • Background in either Mechanical, Electrical and Civil Engineering.
  • Experience of MS Project and or P6 Primavera planning software.
  • Clear understanding of NEC form of contract is preferable.
  • A sound understanding on planned preventative maintenance
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good IT skills including a working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Previous experience in Water/Waste Water is desirable.
  • Valid UK Driving licence is essential.
