The Senior Commercial Estimator is responsible for bidding complex commercial, industrial and institutional projects and overseeing projects in a support role. A successful procurement effort includes developing the bid strategy and maintaining subcontractor relationships. The estimator must rely on the use of construction plans and his own experience in the industry to prepare and analyze project budgets and spending.
Daily Responsibilities:
Prepare initial breakdown of all assigned projects
Accurate material quantities
Accurate material prices, verified with vendors in writing
Accurate labor estimates with detailed explanations
Visit job sites to validate integrity of your initial breakdown
Verify that the site is as described (accessible, terrain, etc.)
Meet with client, architect, or superintendent to ensure that job peculiarities have been identified
Prepare post-meeting minutes that define all topics discussed during the site visit, detailing all job peculiarities
Calculate final pricing based on adequate or superior mark-up multipliers
Prepare accurate and detailed sales proposals
Final pricing
Include peculiarities in proposal
Site layout drawing, at clients request.
Assist in providing for all other customer needs.
Post Proposal Activities:
Complete and turn in all required paperwork for new job folder creation:
New Project Form
Customer Name
Bill to and ship to address
Phone and fax numbers
Accounts payable contact and invoice mailing address (where do we send the invoice?)
Payment terms (short as possible)
Site Contact information
Signed Contract
Map to job site
Completed detailed work order and two copies of associated blueprint(s)
Attend pre-construction meetings to ensure that:
Job details have not been changed
Proposed timing is still accurate
Communicate proposed timing to our customer service representative for inclusion in our installation and fabrications schedules
When necessary, assist in material procurement
Job Commencement:
When necessary, go to jobsite and layout job for crew installation
Timely troubleshoot customer and installer problems that arise during the job (these are urgent and must be handled in an extremely expeditious manner)
Periodically visit job sites, ensuring a smooth installation and correcting all observed problems with our foreman
Communicate job status with Operations Manager, identifying all concerns or problems with the job
Post Job Completion:
Troubleshoot any customer concerns
Assist the controller or salesman in collection activities
When appropriate, pick up checks from various clients
Sales:
Sales Activities
Meet with current prospective clients, aiding American Fence in developing lasting professional relationships
Call on potential selling opportunities, attempting to garner American Fence additional business
Sales expectation $1.5M to $2M.
Maintain Seasonal Job Minimum
Salary Range:
$65,000 to $100,000
Schedule:
8-10 hours per day, Monday through Friday
