Senior Manager of Print Services

Job Summary:
At Postal Center International we are looking for a Senior Manager of Print Services, this person will be responsible for overseeing all processes related to estimating, planning, pre-press, printing, finishing, inserting and Ink Jet Print, Finishing, and operations for the plant. Supervise and coach 5 direct reports and around 100 indirect reports. Support the region’s sales effort by promoting a customer-centered culture throughout the organization. Direct, administer, and coordinate the organization’s activities to support policies, goals, and objectives established by Vice President of Operations. Model the company’s core values and mission statement to internal and external customers.
Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Exercise day-to-day responsibility for all print operations within the plant, including Estimating, Planning, Print Production, Finishing Production and distribution, and support functions in accordance with policies, principles and procedures established by Senior Management.
  • Establish production and quality control standards and develop budget and cost controls.
  • Plan and manage all print production activities and establish production priorities keeping with customer needs, effective operations, and cost factors.
  • Coordinate production activities with procurement, fulfillment, maintenance, and quality control to obtain optimum production and utilization of workforce and equipment.
  • Review and analyze the production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with specifications and operating or production problems and improve product quality.
  • Plan, develop, and implement department SOP’s and goals.
  • Assist in promoting products manufactured or services performed to develop new markets, increase market share, and obtain a competitive position in the industry.
  • Analyze department budget requests to identify areas where cost reductions can be made to improve the operating budget.
  • Revise production schedules and priorities due to customer needs, equipment failure, or operating problems.
  • Consult with plant maintenance personnel regarding modifying machines and equipment to improve product quality.
  • Promote organizations in industry, manufacturing, or trade associations.
  • Keep abreast of new technology developments in prepress, printing, and finishing, and make decisions regarding procurement and implementation.
  • Develop plans for the efficient use of materials, machines, and associates.
  • Review production costs and product quality and modify production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance the company’s profitability
  • Promote ongoing associate development through the apprenticeship training program and associate coaching/mentoring.
  • Recommend budgets to senior management.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • The Sr Manager of Print Services is responsible for all Print and Finishing production managers and staff within the facility and provides guidance and support to the sales team.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Requires the ability to read and interpret documents such as Job Work Orders, Safety rules, operating SOP’s, and policy manual/s.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, i.e., gross profit, sales markup, etc.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to complete written, oral, or diagram instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to abstract reasoning subject to manager approval in situations departing from accepted procedures and practices.
  • Requires the ability to operate a wide variety of standard office equipment, such as a computer and keyboard, calculator, telephone, photocopier, etc.
Education and/or Experience:
  • 5 or more years of experience in a managerial role, in the commercial printing industry.
  • Ability to effectively lead the organization through modeling core values, inspiring best efforts, communicating corporate goals, and ensuring accountability.
