Responsibilities

Job Description:

  • Content Creation and Leadership:
    • Lead the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, including user manuals, API documentation, system administration guides, and release notes.
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level technical writers, ensuring adherence to best practices, standards, and style guidelines.
    • Drive the documentation strategy and roadmap, collaborating with cross-functional teams to prioritize projects and deliverables.
  • Technical Expertise and Collaboration:
    • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in technical writing, contributing deep expertise in writing, editing, and formatting technical content.
    • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather information, understand product features, and communicate technical concepts effectively.
  • Documentation Architecture and Design:
    • Define and implement documentation architecture and design principles, ensuring consistency, usability, and scalability across all documentation assets.
    • Lead the design and development of documentation templates, style guides, and standards to maintain a cohesive and professional documentation suite.
  • Quality Assurance and Review:
    • Oversee the quality assurance process for documentation, conducting reviews and audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of technical content.
    • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to writers on improving documentation quality, clarity, and effectiveness.
  • Process Improvement and Innovation:
    • Identify opportunities to streamline documentation processes, improve documentation tools and workflows, and enhance the overall documentation experience for users.
    • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in technical communication and documentation.
Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in technical writing, software documentation, or a related field, with a proven track record of creating high-quality technical content.
    • Experience leading documentation projects and teams, including planning, prioritization, and execution of documentation initiatives.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
    • Proficiency in using documentation tools such as Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, DITA, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
    • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of documentation standards and style guides, such as Chicago Manual of Style or Microsoft Manual of Style.
