Your role in helping us shape the future:
Do you have experience editing and writing consumer health content? Are you SEO-savvy, as well as comfortable working independently and taking initiative?
As a senior health editor, you will oversee the editorial story process -- from assigning the stories to editing them for publication -- ensuring that content is accurate, engaging and meets the standards of the company. You will manage a team of about four freelance writers, providing feedback and guidance and ensuring that deadlines are met. You will be editing approximately six stories a week and helping update others. You will also help conceptualize graphic elements, such as tables and infographics, to support the stories. This role requires strong writing and editing skills.
This is a temporary position, running from Aug. 1 – Nov 1, 2024.

Are you up to the challenge?
- Manage and lead a team of freelance health writers, providing guidance and feedback on their work.
- Enforce editorial guidelines and style to ensure consistency and quality across all content.
- Edit and proofread content for accuracy, grammar, punctuation and style.
- Help come up with story ideas and content updates.
- Help maintain the editorial calendar.
- Conduct fact-checking to ensure the accuracy of information.
- Collaborate with the SEO team to optimize content for search engines and improve organic rankings.
- AP style
- Attention to detail
- Familiarity with Semrush or other SEO tools
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and the ability to optimize content for search engines
- Proficiency using Airtable
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field

- The hourly rate for this position is $40 per hour. The actual rate offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, interview performance, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
