Senior feature editor, Epoch Health
We are looking for an experienced feature writer or editor to edit news and long-form features for Epoch Health. You’ll provide developmental and structural editing—helping reporters shape ideas, conceptualize the story, adjust the structure, refine the language, and identify potential inaccuracies or discrepancies.
You’ll work with reporters and team management to create unique content for the widest possible audience.
The ideal candidate should have sharp and thoughtful editorial judgment, be collaborative, creative, and able to uphold The Epoch Times’ editorial standards. The candidate should also believe in our mission of applying truth and tradition in journalism.
Responsibilities
- Help reporters develop unique, impactful enterprise and investigative stories.
- Edit for structure, completeness, language, and accuracy.
- Edit to translate complex medical jargon and concepts for a lay audience.
- Identify and deal well with nuances in controversial stories to ensure objective, unbiased reporting while presenting incisive and engaging information.
- Write compelling and clicky but authoritative headlines.
- Guide reporters and support their growth.
- Communicate feedback clearly and kindly.
- Pursue the health team’s goals as outlined by team leadership, including thinking creatively and experimenting with new forms of storytelling. Help The Epoch Times reach new readers while increasing our engagement with current readers.
- Uphold the editorial standards of The Epoch Times.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in feature journalism, preferably 3+ years of reporting experience producing features on complex topics
- Proven skill at writing or editing 2,000+ word engaging, long-form features, including enterprise and investigative stories
- Sharp and thoughtful editorial judgment, a sense of the news cycle
- A demonstrated passion for health and health industry topics
- Digitally savvy and adaptable to a rapidly changing news industry

The annual base pay range for this role is between $66,000 and $75,000. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range according to the selected candidate's experience, location, technical skills, and other factors.
