The Senior Estimator will work with all internal staff, architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors to ensure an accurate representation of cost structures for all Spark Root stakeholders.

Details of the role include (but not limited to):

• Managing projects from initial estimates to formalizing subcontracts.
• Evaluating project costs comprehensively by asking pertinent questions and analyzing available information.
• Providing innovative solutions to issues related to cost, lead-times, trade partners, and specified materials.
• Accurately estimating costs across all project stages (SD, DD, CD).
• Preparing detailed conceptual cost estimates and studies from schematic or feasibility-level documentation.
• Developing variance summaries and value engineering studies as the design evolves.
• Creating presentation-worthy estimate packages that clearly communicate project costs.
• Understanding unit costs and factors affecting construction costs.
• Preparing detailed instructions to bidders and comprehensive bid packages.
• Handling the bidding process, including soliciting bids, evaluating proposals, and negotiating subcontracts.

Ideal applicants:

• Have at least five years of estimating experience;
• Maintain cost data to a detailed and accurate level;
• Highly organized with a bent towards perfectionism,  detailed oriented and a problem solver with a can-do attitude that is capable of managing multiple competing priorities;
• Collaborative but self-directed so that you can work closely with others while also being independent and resourceful; 
• Must be an entrepreneur at heart, who is ready to take on the opportunity to play a key role in a small team managing multiple major projects;
• Passionate about personal growth and leadership- you exhibit a growth mindset and are a curious person with a love for learning;
• Have an incredible tolerance for ambiguity and can self organize in a highly dynamic environment; always seeking the best solution;
• Have a commitment to improving the customer experience- you have a delightfully warm and friendly demeanor;
• Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Communicative with teammates and customers in a clear, concise and helpful manner.
