Title: Senior Buyer

Location: Columbus, MS

Responsibilities

• Select suppliers that provide the highest quality products with a history of on-time delivery and cost savings benefits.
• Negotiate best price and delivery on each item with the supplier.
• Track the actual purchase part spend versus the quoted price used in the program proposal.
• Utilize ERP data to develop Request for Quotes (RFQs) to select the best supplier for the project.
• Maintain current knowledge of purchasing trends and how they might impact manufacturing operations.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Demonstrated work experience within a purchasing role in a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace and defense.
• Ability to identify, evaluate, and select suppliers who can meet the stringent quality and performance standards required in the aerospace/defense sector.
• Experience managing purchase orders for industrial parts, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement.
• Knowledgeable government procurement practices.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems, particularly Microsoft Dynamics GP.
• Ability to use long-term agreements (LTA) where applicable.
• Ability to develop small business plans where required.
• Knowledgeable with export control and ITAR.
• Working within an AS9100/ISO/NADCAP accredited company
• Ensuring all purchased parts comply with aerospace and defense industry regulations, standards, and certifications (e.g., AS9100, ITAR).

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Certification by the Institute of Supply Management (ISM) or similar preferred.
