Position Title: Senior Advisor (Disability)

We are currently seeking a Senior Advisor specializing in Disability matters to join our team in Albany, NY. If you have expertise in providing subject matter guidance on disability-related issues, including policy implications, compliance, and program effectiveness, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Offer expert advice on disability portfolio matters, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Provide guidance on policy impact, administrative rules, compliance, and enforcement mechanisms as they relate to disability rights.

Conduct in-depth research and provide expert consultation on disability portfolio to the Director and Deputy Directors through briefings and written documents.

Provide recommendations on how disability portfolio activities can align with organizational mission goals and strategic objectives, advising the Director and Deputy Directors accordingly.

Identify opportunities to enhance the quality and efficiency of disability nondiscrimination projects.

Collaborate with leaders to evaluate program effectiveness, streamline processes, and implement improvements.

Lead outreach activities focused on the disability portfolio, engaging with stakeholders, media outlets, and special initiatives to amplify the impact of organizational mission activities and strategic objectives.

Education And Experience

• Minimum educational requirement is a law degree (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school or a Master’s degree from an accredited university, along with four years of specialized experience addressing disability discrimination and related matters.
• Experience examples may include working with state Medicaid programs and waivers supporting home and community-based services, serving as an expert consultant or involvement in the federal rulemaking process. Must possess an expert understanding of disability discrimination or the service needs of individuals with disabilities.
• Alternatively, a combination of education and experience may qualify, with the experience equivalent to at least four years at the GS-15 level in the Federal Government.
