The School Psychology Intern will complete a full time (1,260 hour) internship over the period of an academic year (August-June) under the combined supervision of a district School Psychologist mentor and the university supervisor. It is anticipated that upon successful completion of the internship there will be opportunity to continue as a certificated School Psychologist with the district.
Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Master’s level School Psychologist program in good standing
Successful Washington State Patrol and FBI fingerprint clearance
I-9 employment eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act
HIV/HBV and district new hire training
Knowledge
Current academic knowledge in subject area
Assessment and evaluation techniques including psychometric procedures
Current laws and regulations surrounding confidential records and student information
Current research and best practices in medical and psychology fields pertaining to special education
Discipline rules and regulations as defined by federal and state rules and regulations including IDEA 97
Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP) related to student discipline and Individual Educational Programs (IEP)
Curriculum and instruction programs proven to be beneficial to special learning needs
Social, emotional, and behavioral characteristics of pre-school and school age students
Terms Of Employment
The intern will be paid a flat rate of $40,000 for 3 hours of work per day for 180 days. Health benefits will not be provided. Full position description attached.
