JOB OVERVIEW:

The Sales & Category Analyst will be the key data and analytics expert for clients, responsible for reporting and category storytelling to drive the HEB business forward through data-driven decisions. The role involves the ability to deliver best-in-class insights, reporting, presentations, and comprehensive category/marketplace assessments. The candidate will support client and internal sales teams by providing fact-based recommendations and opportunities based on analysis of sales trends, consumer behavior, and category dynamics. A successful candidate must be a self-motivated team player and demonstrate a restless curiosity and a sense of urgency in growing businesses through insights.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide regular and efficient cadence of client & customer performance reporting with commentary on recommendations and opportunities
    • Weekly POS & client reporting, including new item trackers, share, category brand and SKU rankers and others
    • Develop and manage monthly category dashboards with recaps of where customers and clients should act
  • Perform in-depth analysis of information used to make decisions on the implementation of strategic programs at retail
  • Leverage multiple syndicated and retailer data sources to develop category & shopper insights with recommendations to retailers
  • Provide an objective viewpoint on business and customer insights based on a deep understanding and analysis of the market, customer, category, and consumer data
  • Bring a category voice to customer conversations/meetings, line reviews, and strategic sales planning, by tailoring national category stories to a specific retailer
  • Identify competitive intel, category trends, fair share, opportunity gaps, and share of wallet and leakage opportunities
  • Support client and MPG Account Managers to drive business growth via sales storytelling, forecasting, promotional ROI and 4Ps analysis (price, promotion, assortment/product, place/distribution, and efficiencies).
  • Evaluates and scorecards clients’ promotions to measure effectiveness and reports out findings to account manager
  • Leads cross-functional special projects as necessary
  • Educate the customer and sales team on insights best practices, including category stories that influence customers to act
REQUIRED SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:

  • 4-year degree preferred or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience
  • 5+ years of Sales Analytics and/or Category Management experience supporting retailers
  • Direct experience with syndicated sales/consumer data systems ie: IRI/Circana, NielsenIQ Numerator, and retailer systems i.e. HEB Circana Portal, Dunnhumby, Kroger 84.51/Market 6, etc.
    • Ideally fluent in Circana/IRI and Microsoft Office Suite; experience in HEB Circana/IRI category portal a plus but not required
  • Ability to deliver on client and customer analytical needs that impact business decisions and results
  • Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency,
  • Strong ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights
  • Effective and efficient project management skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, keep projects moving and on time, even under tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of consumer products industry & category, brand, & retail strategies
  • Self-motivated team player who thrives on being a proactive partner
