Intermountain Electronics, Inc. is seeking a Safety Coordinator. This positionwill be housed at our Denver, CO facility.

IE is a leading provider of custom engineered and manufactured process and electrical systems to the renewable energy sector, oil & gas, mining and power/utility industries in North America. IEs turnkey products are generally mobile - mounted on skids or in portable e-houses. Our products include portable power/generators, substations, electrical control rooms (MCCs/VFDs/switchgear), water-flood/disposal buildings, compressor skids, metering equipment, mining power skids, battery storage skids and other products used in multiple energy sectors.

Position Summary: Safety Coordinator administers and implements companywide occupational safety programs and serves as the coordinator for the occupational safety programs. The Safety Coordinator plans, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates departmental occupational safety programs.

Salary Range:$25-$34/hr depending on experience.

Major Duties

Work directly with Chief Growth Officer, HSE (Health, Safety, Environmental) Manager, and HR to create and utilize existing procedures and protocols and to have all documentation and paperwork managed and filed in a consistent manner and communicated with team.

  • Assures safety programs and procedures implemented by Corporate are being followed for the benefit and welfare of employees.
  • Address issues and manage tasks related to safety to reduce companys liability for risks management and insurance purposes.
  • Help drive health and safety by motivating employees to promote awareness and provide leadership on issues of health and safety.
  • Fosters new ideas to improve the safety program as well as reduce the environmental footprint of the facility
  • Provides task training on all equipment and tools.
  • Assures regular safety meetings are held and attended.
  • Coordinates inspections and trainings for companys East facilities.
  • Effectively and appropriately communicate with department heads and supervisors.
  • Investigate certain safety complaints, near misses, injuries, or make sure proper authorities are notified to investigate incidents.
  • Identifies health and safety concerns by surveying operations, occupational conditions, investigating violations and recommending prevention programs.
  • Accompany injured employees to designated medical providers.
  • Travel to other locations and respond to second shift incidents.
  • Conduct and communicate regular IE audits.
  • Conducts weekly health and safety inspections and measures all aspects of health and safety and audit compliance with the respective programs.
  • Promotes a safe working environment by coordinating plant inspections and reporting statistics
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act CFR1910 and 1926 regulations
  • Working knowledge and understanding of worker compensation legislation.
  • Complies with all applicable legislation and regulations by advising management on needed actions.
  • Knowledge and understanding of MSHA regulations
  • Stays current with all legislated safety training.
  • Ability to deal with and handle a variety difficult problems and situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • High motivation, service, and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail.
  • Other Essential Duties:
  • Punctual. Maintains regular and consistent job attendance, comes to work on time.

  • Follow and comply with IE safety program including IEs Cardinal Safety Rules.
  • Must maintain a safe and clean work area at all times.

Required Experience

Other Duties may be assigned.

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent plus at 5-10 years of industrial work setting experience working in a mechanically related or manufacturing environments or an equivalent combination education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret budgets, general business reports, government regulations such as OSHA, MSHA, UL, etc., Ability to develop and present sales presentations using PowerPoint or other effective sales mediums. Must be able to prepare professional level correspondence, letters, and customer documentation notes. Must be able to establish effective communication ties and relationships with customers both internally and externally. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple customers and develop lasting rapport. Ability to address customer issues and resolve problems in a timely manner. Ability to understand customer business needs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be Proficient using Microsoft Office Software including PowerPoint word processing software; Proficient using Excel spreadsheets spreadsheet software; Proficient using Outlook internet software and Proficient using EPICOR or related manufacturing software. Must be proficient using mobile devices, Laptops, etc
  • Forklift Instructor or able to obtain such within 6 months of employment. Must have OSHA 30 Certification or able to obtain such within 6 months of employment. Train the Trainer first aid, CPR, AED certification within 1 year of employment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must comply with and follow all IE standards, programs, policies, and procedures as they apply to this position, reports any unsafe condition immediately. Must operate and perform job duties in a safe manner. Must be able to operate/work safely around machinery/moving equipment.
  • Some work is performed in an office setting at a desk. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Must be willing to travel 30-50% of time.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit and or smell and to stand and work on concrete floor for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work a 40-hour work week and additional time as required.
