Job Overview: The Research and Development (R&D) Scientist will be responsible for innovating and improving food products for a leading food manufacturer. This role involves conducting research, formulating new products, optimizing existing recipes, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food science, creativity in product development, and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development:

  • Develop new food products from concept to commercialization.
  • Modify and improve existing product formulations.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations and shelf-life studies.

Research and Innovation:

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging ingredients, and new technologies.
  • Conduct research on new ingredients, processes, and packaging solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation.

Testing and Analysis:

  • Design and execute experiments to test product quality, safety, and efficacy.
  • Analyze data and report findings to stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot formulation and production issues.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all products comply with local, national, and international food regulations.
  • Maintain documentation for product development and regulatory submissions.
  • Coordinate with regulatory bodies for product approvals.

Project Management:

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion.
  • Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
  • Communicate project status to management and other departments.

Quality Assurance:

  • Work closely with the QA team to ensure product consistency and quality.
  • Implement quality control measures during product development.
  • Address customer feedback and quality issues.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience in food product development or a related field.
  • Proven track record of successful product launches.
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Creativity and innovation mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with regulatory submissions and compliance.
  • Knowledge of sensory evaluation techniques.
  • Experience with plant-based, organic, or functional food products.

Work Environment:

  • Laboratory and office settings.
  • Occasional travel to production facilities, conferences, and supplier sites.
