Role

Prepare daily, monthly and quarterly entries, reconciliations, and reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, guidelines approved by management and banking regulations. Maintain the Accounting Operating Guide with the most current updates. Assist with new projects and research to ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory guidance.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily reconciliations, daily system proofs, and associated journal vouchers; identify and correct errors; and ensure communication with proper personnel has occurred. Step in to assist other members of staff with identifying and correcting errors as necessary.
  • Complete Special Projects (Report Miner models, report development, GL research, etc) assigned.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for financial and regulatory reporting, tax return and provision, department budgets, and management.
  • Research identified issues, prepare any necessary supporting reports, calculate and prepare entries.
  • Assist other departments in understanding how their processes impact the general ledger. Ensure all policies, procedures, and workflows are properly documented.
  • Completes month-end balance sheet reconciliations for SOX.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for financial and regulatory reporting, tax return and provision, department budgets, and management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Must comply with current applicable laws, regulations and bank policies and procedures. Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.


Experience

Minimum five years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.


Education/Certifications/Licenses

College degree in accounting or business related field.


Skills

  • Must have the knowledge and experience to be able to complete project requests as needed. This includes an understanding of general accounting guidance as it relates to the bank, regulatory guidance, the bank’s business practices, and the bank’s systems.
  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others both inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information, as well as updating or referring, which typically require short discussions.
