PGA is seeking a motivated Project Planner to become a key member of our growing Planning team based in either Tampa or Orlando, FL, supporting PGA and our clients statewide. The ideal candidate should be motivated to take charge of tasks, excited to learn from senior staff, and ready to advance their career with a firm eager to see them succeed. Being successful in this role requires working across disciplines and identifying solutions that are implementable. A Project Planner in this role may have an engineering or design background and will demonstrate an interest in the relationships between the built environment and transportation behaviors.
What You'll Do
Assist Project Managers with a variety of project tasks as assigned.
Coordinate project processes and communications under the leadership of Project Managers.
Research and summarize existing planning documents and relevant best practices.
Perform data collection and analysis.
Create maps and other graphics to present data and concepts to non-technical audiences.
Coordinate meeting logistics, agendas, minutes, and follow-up action items.
Prepare materials for, attend, facilitate, and document public meetings.
Deliver technical presentations on a variety of project-related planning topics.
Develop planning documents and grant applications, following required formats where applicable.
Assist with marketing efforts for the Planning Group and lead select project pursuits.
Require moderate technical supervision, seeking assistance when needed.
Complete tasks and projects within established supervisor’s expectations.
What You'll Need
Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, civil engineering, landscape architecture, or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience.
Other experience, training, or certification may be considered.
What You'll Bring
Knowledge of planning principles, policies, laws, and typical demographic data sets is preferred.
Skills to interpret and summarize planning recommendations and documents is required.
Skills to properly analyze data and make appropriate recommendations is required.
Ability to prioritize tasks while maintaining attention to detail and remaining organized is required.
Ability to collaborate and communicate verbally and in writing is required.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team on deadline-driven activities is required.
Ability to use Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and other standard Office Products is required.
Knowledge of multimodal transportation planning and land-use planning is preferred.
Knowledge of public involvement practices, including local government, MPO, PD&E, and NEPA processes is preferred.
Knowledge of multimodal traffic data, safety, forecasting, and analysis principles is preferred.
Skills to use GIS, photography, and visual design software to create maps and other planning graphics is preferred.
