What You'll Do

The Power Supply team performs various functions related to the origination, development and management of CPA's energy supply portfolio, including procurement of renewable, carbon free, conventional energy, energy storage, and resource adequacy products to contribute to CPA's targeted portfolio mix, achieve regulatory compliance, and maximize benefits for CPA's customers. As part of the Structured Contracts team in Power Supply, the Project Manager, Structured Contracts  will be responsible for assisting with running solicitations for long-term resources, negotiating energy and energy storage contracts, facilitating projects to achieve commercial operation and administering contracts throughout the contract lifecycle.  

Who You'll Work With

The Project Manager, Structured Contracts will report to the Director, Structured Contracts as part of the Structured Contracts team in Power Supply. The role will work closely with the Power Supply team, Risk team, Finance team, CPA's third-party scheduling coordinator, in-house and outside counsel, internal functional teams, and CPA's executive leadership to support procurement activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Contract Project Management:

  • Oversee a portfolio of contracts, administer contract requirements, and manage disputes. Work closely with CPA's Power Supply team and to ensure proper management of each contract, including coordination with CPA's scheduling coordinator agent, and front, mid and back-office functions.
  • Support the negotiation of long-term Power Purchase Agreements and Energy Storage Agreements with counterparties and ensure negotiations align with CPA goals and its rate payers' best interests. 

Request for Offer:

  • Support the Request for Offer (RFO) process for long-term renewable, clean energy, and other projects, including the development of solicitation materials, management of consultants, RFO administration, Communications with bidders, and review and selection of offers. Facilitate the execution of RFO documents such as exclusivity agreements and non-disclosure agreements.

Relationship Management:

  • Manage relationships with counterparties through the project development phase, project on-boarding, amendments, consents, and ongoing contract management.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for long-term energy contracts within your assigned portfolio.

Reporting

  • Responsible for the preparation of reports and presentations for management and CPA's Board of Directors.
  • Respond to regulatory filings and data requests.

Program Support:

  • Support CPA's procurement programs such as Power Share and Power Ready.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a bachelor's degree
  • At least two (2) years of experience in energy origination, contract negotiation, electricity trading/marketing, or contract management.
  • Demonstrated experience in CAISO and North American electricity markets

Work Location 

This position is eligible for either Hybrid or Remote options. The Hybrid option requires 2-3 assigned days in the Downtown Los Angeles office and includes an enhanced transportation allowance. Both options require in-person attendance at organization or team-wide events 3 times per year for 3-5 days per event.  CPA's office hours are 8:30am-5:30pm PST.



Benefits

The salary range for this position is $116,359.32 - $167,557.83, with exact compensation to be determined by Clean Power Alliance, dependent on experience. Benefits include health care, a 401(k)-like match program, paid vacation, and sick leave. This is not a civil service position; however, all CPA employees are required to submit a Statement of Economic Interests form, also known as the Form 700.
