Job Description

  • Provide leadership to proposal/project teams, both internal and external HZI, in the planning, design, execution, and commissioning for projects related to HZI Anaerobic Digestion, Power to Gas, Waste Fuel Boilers, Flue Gas Treatment, etc. products.
  • Provide support to Business Development and Sales in the preparation of presentations, documentation, Invitation to Bid (ITB) deliverables, etc.
  • Determine project engineering scope and set up an engineering work plan for the project team on complex projects for Front End Engineering and Design (FEED), Engineering-Procure (EP) and Engineering-Procure-Construct (EPC), and Build-Own-Operate (BOO) type projects.
  • Perform as a liaison to coordinate effective communication between project management (commercial) and engineering (technical) disciplines.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for key stakeholders (customers, suppliers, construction, HZI internal, etc.) for technical issues.
  • Provide oversight and direction for the technical team in the development of system designs and equipment selection for proposal and projects within agreed upon man-hour budgets and schedules.
  • Develop overall proposal/project schedules, project execution plans, communication plans, financial forecasts, and resource plans, etc. for technical activities.
  • Review and coordinate activities of the technical team, internal and external, to ensure technical solutions meet or improve upon project goals with regards to cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Identify and evaluate improvement opportunities related to cost and/or schedule alternatives, options, and solutions and present clear and concise fact-based recommendations.
  • Oversee the development of document packages to support Request for Quotes (RFQ) and Final Procurement of engineered components, equipment, and systems.
  • Ensure HZI equipment and system designs are compliant with HZI Standards, Contractual Obligations, and Regulatory Requirements.
  • Assist in the coordination and maintenance of core knowledgebase for HZI (Anaerobic Digestion, Power to Gas, Waste Fuel Boilers, Flue Gas Treatment, etc.) products as well as adapt and configure established European designs to comply with North American market requirements.
  • Ensure proper reviews, monitoring, and controls are in place to evaluate and report on proposal /project status.
  • Manage and lead complex technical discussions with key stakeholders (customers, business partners, suppliers, and other departments/disciplines) in order to facilitate appropriate technical decisions.
  • Support formal studies, technical briefings, and presentations to key stakeholders (customers, business partners, suppliers, and other departments/disciplines).
  • Identify issues (problems, value improvement opportunities) and help clarify areas of complexity during all phases of the engineering design work.
  • Understand multi-disciplinary technical issues and be able to provide innovative technical solutions to resolve these issues.
  • Seek ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness for HZI deliverables.
  • Maintain compliance with work instructions, standard practices, policies and procedures.
  • Know, Adhere, and enforce HZI quality standards.
  • Perform other related activities as requested.

Qualifications

  • EIT/PE registration preferred.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering and/or Business preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Software Suite.
  • Proficient with MS-Project.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards, and best practices (i.e. ASME/ANSI/ASTM/DIN/ NEC/IEC/IEEE/ISA/NEMA)

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to talk or hear, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Working Conditions

  • Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
