PROGRAMMER ANALYST III - GENERAL OPTION

The Programmer Analyst III (General Option) is a position used by various agencies throughout the state. This is complex to highly complex professional application development and systems analysis work. Incumbents may serve as lead workers over teams of application developers and support staff or may provide specialized technical knowledge at the expert level, often requiring the development of new or improved applications, processes, or techniques.

Incumbents in this role will be responsible for complex to highly complex assignments and are expected to be fully proficient in utilizing high level languages to manipulate databases or files and to produce outputs and reports. MINIMUM REQUIREMENT(S)

  • Current, permanent Merit system status as a Programmer Analyst II (for the promotional register only).
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited* four-year college or university in Computer Science, Math, Information Technology or a related field, including 2 courses in programming, plus four (4) years of experience in Applications Development and Support (e.g., computer programming utilizing high level languages to manipulate databases or files and produce outputs and reports), including two (2) years of experience in system analysis, defining system requirements, writing system specifications, and designing computer systems. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT(S)
