The Aviation Program Director is forward-looking, collaborative and will expand Woolpert’s footprint as an industry leader in California within horizontal aviation planning and design solutions (runways, taxiways, aprons). You will lead the growth of the business by developing and managing profitable client relationships in the small airport space.
Working with market and discipline leaders, and other Woolpert subject matter experts, you will devise, execute and manage client/business development, strategic planning, marketing, and project deliverables in this aviation market. You will also support and promote other markets and practices of Woolpert to assist their growth.

This position is remote, but the candidate must be located in California.
Responsibilities
The Program Director will drive partnerships with other consultants in the aviation industry to win bids, guide project managers and collaborate closely with the Aviation Market Director and dedicated aviation staff in California.
Lead the business growth of key horizontal aviation planning and design services by developing a pipeline of new and existing business/contract opportunities throughout California.
Guide growth of the practice based on emerging trends, technologies, policies, and available funding sources that build on our existing reputation and relationships.
Maintain a thought-leader/Subject Matter Expert profile in the industry by providing industry leading customer service to existing and potential clients.
Guide the appropriate level of collaboration between Project Managers and the cross-functional technical (discipline) teams.
Manage, monitor, and forecast metrics including Backlog, Profit and Loss, Sales, Net Revenue, Utilization, Continuing Education, and Non-Billable Travel and Expenses for the Practice.
Lead and support where appropriate all shortlist presentations for prospective clients and participate in contract negotiations with clients.
Provide quality reviews of project documentation including work plans through final deliverables.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 10+ years of related work experience leading and developing Statewide Transportation Systems, Planning and Design projects, preferably within the Aviation.
Hold a current Professional Engineering licenses in California.
Aviation or Airfield Planning/Design Subject Matter Expertise in one or more areas of existing and emerging design and construction solutions which include: Airfield, Vertical, Airport Layout Plans, Master Plans, instrument approaches, site civil grading drainage and utilities, pavements, airfield lighting and navigational aids, facility planning studies and site development.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of FAA Planning and Design Advisory Circulars, Local California Government Code, California City/County Governance and budgeting.
Experience with public-private partnerships, Geographic Information Systems, and Asset Management desired but not required.
Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
Strong overarching business acumen required, including Microsoft Office products.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a dynamic environment.
Quickly adapt and respond to industry changes as well as internal initiatives.
Travel Requirements:
Must be able to travel 50% to clients, conferences and other Woolpert offices.
