Crawford Industries, now a part of Spartech, LLC has an opening for Screen Press Operator on our team in Crawfordsville, IN.The Crawfordsville operation of the organization specializes in extruding and converting flat plastic sheet. Plastic sheet may have graphics added and then die cut into license plates, the "lamp shade" used in veterinary clinics, signage, file folders, 3-ring binders, covers for school date books, for example. We reuse our scrap plastic whenever possible to create our environmentally friendly products. We offer medical, dental, vision, life insurance, dependent life insurance, short-term and long-term disability all available the 1st of the month following 30 days of full-time employment. General Summary And Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Sets up and operates an automatic screen-printing press.
Key Responsibilities to include:
Check job traveler for each job as assigned to confirm set-up and materials furnished will yield product required
Makes complete set-up for the job on the appropriate screen press
Checks registration and check for corona treat
Prepare proper ink for the job and use proper additives to correct problems during the run
Locate, correct, and repair minor screen problems such as pinholes
Make appropriate adjustments during the run to ensure quality of product produced
Train and direct activities of those who are temporarily assigned to assist in screening.
Accurately report all direct and indirect labor activities
Requirements
Required Skills/Experience:
High School diploma or experience demonstrating equivalent skills and abilities
Printing or equivalent experience required
Basic math skills
Able to read and use a tape measure and micrometer
Must have normal color vision
Basic mechanical skills
Frequently lift up to 30 pounds
Able to use a hand truck to move materials.
Able to stand for extended periods of time.
Able to work around inks and cleaning chemicals
Able to wear appropriate PPE - googles, gloves, safety glasses, bump cap, hearing protection, and safety toed shoes
This position reports to the Converting Supervisor.
