Join our Gas, Power and Emissions trading business as a Power Trading Analyst in our Houston office.

Our Commodity Markets and Finance Division provides a full spectrum offering to clients with exposure to commodities. Our division provides risk management, financing, physical execution and logistics across the full spectrum of commodities and in all regions.

What role will you play?

In this role you will focus on building and maintaining short-term trading strategies, as well as database creation and management, running and power flow models and analyzing output all for the purpose of facilitating power trading strategies. This role will work side by side with power traders, in a fast-paced and occasionally intense working environment. You will leverage your quantitative and technical skills to build models and tools to understand and forecast power market conditions, with the ultimate goal of generating profitable trading strategies.

The focus of this role will be deregulated power markets, such as PJM, MISO, ERCOT, SPPISO, NYISO, ISONE and CAISO.

What You Offer

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Mathematics, Economics, or related quantitative disciple
  • Some experience in an analytical, technical, or quantitative role
  • Solid programming skills, including experience with programming languages such as Python, R, SQL
  • Experience with databases, power flow models and large data-set analysis
  • An understanding of both fundamental and quantitative methods in portfolio development
  • A quantitative background is also a plus, but the ability to creatively and quickly solve complex problems is more important than extensive mathematical training.
