Role And Responsibilities
The Pilates Reformer Lead is responsible for overseeing the Pilates Department and providing onsite leadership for Pilates Instructors. This person actively promotes the sale & purchases of Pilates Group Reformer and Private Training sessions within the club, thereby assisting Active Wellness with member satisfaction, retention, and meeting financial targets. The Pilates Reformer Lead meets the budgeted department goals for Pilates Sales. The Pilates Reformer Lead is also responsible for all matters pertaining to equipment and safety in the Pilates Studio.
Specific Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Meet monthly and yearly revenue goals through the development of Pilates programming.
Track individual daily instructor class counts for Pilates Reformer classes
Train Pilates sessions in coordination with Fitness Manager & General Manager
Support and manage Pilates Instructors; interview, hire, train, and develop.
Manage member questions, comments and concerns on a daily basis and provide mediation between members/staff, members/members and staff/staff.
Work with Program Manager and Housekeeping teams to ensure Pilates studio cleanliness
Attract and retain Pilates clients.
Produces Pilates Group Reformer schedule and descriptions.
Observes and participate in Pilates Group Reformer sessions regularly to ensure quality control.
Monitor Pilates Group Reformer attendance weekly and make sure billing is up to date.
Fill in as a Pilates Instructor for last-minute absences by staff (should be rare).
Manage new program preparations and launch as necessary.
Evaluate and coach staff as needed.
Helps Program Manager prepare annual Pilates budget accounting for all costs associated with effectively operating the Pilates Reformer program within parameters established by management.
Submits purchase orders or expense reports for any and all departmental purchases according to established club guidelines.
Personally addresses member suggestions and complaints as they arise in a way that leaves the member feeling “heard” and appreciated, while still protecting the interests of the center.
Address any and all employee behavior issues in a fair and consistent manner according to established company guidelines.
Help with corporate outreach and Social Media activity
Attend weekly department head meetings, individual meetings, company fitness meetings and required trainings
Complete and follow up on facility work orders
Conduct quarterly Pilates staff meetings to ensure quality of Pilates Reformer program
Administer emergency care to members and guests in need of assistance
Work as a TEAM with all other departments
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Other Functions
Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered throughout the center
Promote club services and activities
Perform routine maintenance of equipment
Assist with keeping the center well stocked and clean
Attend Active Wellness site meetings and trainings
Handle injury and illness and security incident reporting
Requirements
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Experience managing and/or coaching small group training programs is a plus
National Pilates Certification(s) required (see approved Certification, Licenses and Permits list) as well as modality specific certifications as required by role (if applicable)
Group exercise instruction experience preferred but not required
1-2 years of experience is preferred
Must be detail oriented, organized and highly responsive with a commitment to customer service
Strong verbal communication skills
Basic computer skills, customer service skills, results oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industry
AED/CPR/First Aid Certified
Proof of citizenship or legal status
Physical and Working Conditions
Ability to take the responsibility for the health and safety of others
Ability to stand for several hours in a same shift; ability to lift 25 lbs
Fitness club environment
Must follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standards
