The Accounting team plays a critical role in defining and driving strategic and financial improvements and processes across the company. As a Payroll Accountant you will report to the Sr. Accounting Manager and play an essential role in maintaining best-in-practice standards as an in-charge business process owner for our global payroll. You’ll prepare global payroll schedules and records and you’ll contribute to various accounting tasks, such as recognizing payroll registers to the general ledger, updating payroll files, reconciling various payroll related liability accounts and bank accounts at month-end. This position will be extremely pivotal in the day to day payroll and accounting operations as well as supporting the scalability of a rapidly growing organization.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead global payroll processing and accounting, ensuring that all employees are paid on time, in full and in accordance with company policies and local bylaws
  • Privy to the payroll processing of all employees within the company, you will maintain confidentiality and accuracy while contributing to process improvement
  • Calculate net salaries considering deductions, leaves, withholdings, and process overtime earnings or holiday deductions in ADP, Vistra, & Deel.com
  • Ensure payroll and tax documents are accurate
  • Update general ledger and payroll files
  • Prepare accounting files, records, and schedules
  • Resolve payroll problems (e.g. overlooked bank holidays, late payments, etc.) & answer employee questions concerning payroll
  • Ensure compliance with governmental laws on payroll accounting and taxes
  • As an instrumental member of the month-end close, you will help shape the final workflows necessary to close the books within a consolidated time frame
  • Work collaboratively across teams, providing actionable insights and impactful data that will drive optimal business decisions
  • Gain exposure and lead a variety of areas including payroll compliance and payroll audits
  • Add value to a growing lean and diverse team by bringing your technical know how and drive for identifying risks, implementing controls, and developing proper process documentation
  • Contribute to the success of annual financial statement audits, as well as periodic statutory audits
  • Perform special projects or other duties as requested

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent years of experience
  • 3+ years of experience as a payroll professional
  • Comfort in a fast-paced startup environment and efficient at time-management as well as stellar organizational skills
  • Communicates effectively with the various business partners and ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to both technical and non-technical partners
  • Experience with payroll, reconciliations, compliance and intercompany transactions
  • Strong payroll background with a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working in Netsuite ERP or similar ERP
  • A plus, but not required: CPP Certificate

For US-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $119,000 to $125,000 + bonus, equity, and US benefits. The actual pay may vary based on factors such as location, experience, and skills.
