ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to support the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) District of Colorado. Your scope of work focuses on providing comprehensive litigation support and ensuring efficient management of electronically stored information (ESI) for the Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) program.

Responsibilities

  • Load, track, and manage productions of subpoenaed documents
  • Create and run queries by tagging responsive documents
  • Review and analyze documents by writing summaries and chronologies
  • Export documents from productions
  • Assist with trial preparation and run trial presentation software
  • Work independently and as part of an inter-agency team with government attorneys and others
  • Analyze complex data and corporate documents
  • Review investigative reports, transcript testimonies, interview reports, ESI, and documents for civil cases
  • Assist and train AUSAs, USAO support staff, investigators, and agents in organizing voluminous case information
  • Ensure documents are organized for efficient automated storage and retrieval
  • Log, organize, and track all discovery and non-discovery materials using various software review programs
  • Identify software packages for presenting complex and voluminous evidence
  • Use software programs to assist AUSAs in presentations
  • Prepare witness books, exhibit lists, witness lists, and exhibits for submission to court
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely preparation of exhibits
  • Perform work involving communication through visual means
  • Prepare photo boards, maps, charts, and other demonstrative exhibits required for litigation
  • Use trial presentation software during trials
  • Ensure computers and DVD/TV recording equipment are in place in courtrooms
  • Operate systems in the courtroom as needed
  • Troubleshoot all technical issues related to computerized presentation of exhibits
  • Train AUSAs, USAO support staff, and agency personnel on court-related software
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Familiarity with litigation support software (e.g., Everlaw, Eclipse, Relativity, Trial Director, and CaseMap)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

BACKGROUND

  • Exp. in legal and/or litigation support preferred
  • Exp. with database management and electronic discovery (eDiscovery) processes preferred
  • Analytical, detail oriented, and highly organized

EDUCATION

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Travel may be required

The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 100% of the time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 100% of the time.
