We currently have an opportunity for a well-rounded and seasoned Operational Controller to join our Pier Sixty-Six Resort opening team!

Reporting to the Director of Finance the Operational Controller will evaluate hotel rooms, food & beverage, and other operating areas to ensure cost-effectiveness. Will also embody our core values to create, coordinate, and implement innovative learning programs that empower our staff to reach new heights of excellence. Operational Controller will work with hotel operational software systems such as Labor Management, PMS, POS, and Procurement. Must prepare and analysis reports and conducts meetings with departmental directors and managers, to apprise them of trends and cost factors. Must be hands on with the day-to-day activities and special projects. Will work with the department managers to make them successful by improving internal efficiency, budget compliance and communications.

Responsibilities

  • Must be effective at understanding and clarifying business analysis needs for Room, F&B and other operational managers.
  • Must be effective in handling challenges through anticipating, identifying, and solving problems, as necessary.
  • Must be able to understand and help support complex information, software and data that is necessary for managing hotel operations rooms and outlets.
  • Knowledge of Labor Management, PMS, POS, Procurement, Club Management, and others.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
  • Writing skills with proven ability to develop, document and maintain operational policies and procedures, including the designing and documenting detailed process flows, and the development of operational performance
  • Working with database tools including Excel in preparing management with monthly and weekly spreadsheet reports.

  • Relationships Create and deliver engaging, cutting-edge training modules and programs.
  • Continuously assess training needs through rigorous analysis and feedback channels.
  • Conduct training audits and provide recommendations for ongoing improvements.
  • Proactively research and collaborate with external training resources to infuse fresh perspectives and expertise into our programs.
  • Communicate our training strategies with enthusiasm, and consistently advise management on training matters.
  • Conduct engaging new hire orientations that inspire new team members from day one.
  • Educate new team members on our training tools, equipping them with strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Champion the Roots of Service program throughout the properties, reinforcing our commitment to exceptional service.
  • Facilitate strategic planning sessions, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Participate in inventory and spot-check.

Qualifications

  • Ability to translate business objectives into technical product requirements for development.
  • Experience writing business requirements, Standard Operating Procedures, user guides and functional specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills .
  • Must maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Analyze drivers of hotel operating results and recommend actions to help drive operations projects to improve efficiency and profitability of hotels and F&B outlet operations.
  • Prepare and optimize daily/weekly/monthly operations reporting to inform and enable property and operations management.
  • Participate in forecasting and budgeting processes as required.
  • Ability to analyze a large volume of complex financial information from many sources and create reports, forecasts, and projections.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Experience with hotels systems a plus such as: PMS, POS, Profitsword, Unifocus, Agylysis, and Craftable. Experience leading Training & Development in a large, luxury resort or hotel.
  • Clear understanding of the Forbes 5-star standards (previously 5-star certified)
  • Experience in Instructional Design a plus.
  • Ability to command the room with executive presence.
  • Computer literate with the ability to learn HRIS systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Previous experience in a Food and Beverage Department preferred.
