Offshore Engineer
A new opportunity for an Offshore Engineer to work for an EPC on setting out the standard and procedures for their mooring capability in a permanent role has emerged. The role itself will be based in Houston 2/3 days per week working within a team of 8-10 but may look to grow in the near future.
Offshore Engineer Responsibilities:
- Execute engineering tasks both in-office and on offshore sites, ensuring seamless project integration.
- Conduct detailed design and analysis for a range of offshore projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers, fostering their development and ensuring high-quality work.
- Provide critical support to offshore personnel during operations, addressing technical issues as they arise.
- Assist in maintaining and improving QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Environment) assurance practices.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and offshore operations teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Contribute to technical sales efforts through engaging presentations, insightful publications, and active committee participation.
- Design mooring systems, performing thorough compliance analyses to meet regulatory and project-specific requirements.
- Assess and evaluate offshore mooring installation concepts for both technical and commercial feasibility.
- Define the requirements for installation vessels and evaluate potential candidates for suitability.
- Liaise effectively with clients, vessel owners, and third-party stakeholders to ensure project alignment and success.
- Conduct site visits to shore bases and offshore locations to evaluate operational capabilities and identify constraints.
- Oversee the installation of offshore mooring and subsea equipment, ensuring adherence to project plans.
- Develop detailed procedures for offshore installation, hookup, disconnect, recovery, repair, and replacement operations.
- Perform precise rigging design calculations and generate comprehensive equipment lists for offshore operations.
- Produce Daily Offshore Operations Progress Reports and comprehensive Post Job Summary Reports to document and review project outcomes.
Offshore Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Master of Science (BS or MS) in Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in the marine and offshore industry.
- Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Extensive knowledge of offshore and marine industry terminology, concepts, and practices.
- Deep understanding of mooring system design and analysis techniques.
- Comprehensive understanding of offshore operations methods and practices.
- Basic understanding of QHSE assurance standards and practices.
