We are seeking an experienced Legal Office Assistant to support the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) at the Dallas Regional Office. Your scope of work focuses on providing comprehensive administrative support and ensuring efficient office operations.

Responsibilities
Receive incoming telephone calls/visitors and determine the nature of business
Refer calls to the appropriate staff member
Assist with receipt and distribution of incoming mail for the agency
Create, tab, and index paper files and other documents as needed
Perform data entry and typing consistently on a personal computer
Use a variety of office equipment (e.g., personal computers, fax machines, copiers, mail equipment, scanners, etc.)
Communicate with court reporters and customers to schedule telephone conferences, in-person, and video hearings
Initiate inquiries regarding case processing
Respond to appeal inquiries on behalf of the Administrative Judge (AJ) of the office
Respond to inquiries about appeals and Board procedures following directions from the Supervisory Paralegal Specialist
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the legal field
Ability to use office equipment (e.g., personal computers, fax machines, copiers, mail equipment, scanners, etc.)
Proficient in data entry and typing
Excellent written and oral communication skills
BACKGROUND
2-4 years of experience in the administrative field or in a related legal assistant area
Exp. in customer service roles preferred
Detail-oriented and organized
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree preferred

Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 100% of the time.
