The Institute for Justice, the National Law Firm for Liberty, is seeking an outgoing and energetic professional to fill the role of a full-time Office and Facilities Assistant for its fast-paced headquarters office in Arlington, VA. The ideal candidate will have a strong customer-service mindset and will be able to work full-time (8:30 AM – 5:30 PM) onsite, along with a bachelor’s degree and/or 0 – 2 years of experience.
This position presents an opportunity for an entry-level professional to gain administrative experience in the legal field, while being exposed to all aspects of IJ’s work. The Office and Facilities Assistant plays a crucial role at IJ, acting as the face of the organization for all visitors and ensuring its headquarters runs smoothly and efficiently.

This position presents an opportunity for an entry-level professional to gain administrative experience in the legal field, while being exposed to all aspects of IJ’s work. The Office and Facilities Assistant plays a crucial role at IJ, acting as the face of the organization for all visitors and ensuring its headquarters runs smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answering, screening, and assisting all incoming phone calls
- Receiving and distributing incoming mail
- Submitting maintenance and facilities requests and acting as point of contact for building personnel and outside vendors
- Maintaining the appearance and functionality of office common areas for day-to-day operations and onsite events
- Maintaining general office, snack, and beverage supplies
- Reviewing IJ’s general email inbox
- Scheduling and assisting with meetings in-person and via Zoom
- Coordinating approved visitors with building security and greeting all guests
- Assisting the Administration Team with special projects and events
- Other duties as assigned
- A bachelor's degree and/or 0-2 years of work experience
- An outgoing, can-do personality, proactive nature, and desire to work as part of a close-knit team
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to independently multi-task and prioritize work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
