Job Summary/Basic Function
Teach courses in both an ACEND -accredited didactic program in dietetics and ACEND -accredited combined dietetic internship graduate program, and serve as coordinator of the combined dietetic internship graduate program. Specific courses to be taught will be determined based on the successful candidate’s experience. As coordinator, the successful candidate will assist the director in administration, coordination, outreach, and documentation required by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics ( ACEND ). Such duties include coordination of supervised practice rotations, outreach and recruitment, and maintenance of outcomes data. The successful candidate will participate in academic advising, assist with master’s capstone projects, participate in scholarly activity, and provide service to the department, campus, and community.
This position will begin August 2024.
Minimum Qualifications
For fixed term, applicant must have earned a master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, or closely related field from an accredited institution, be a registered dietitian as recognized by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, have at least three years of experience post-credentialing as a registered dietitian, have demonstrated proficiency in college teaching (graduate teaching assistant teaching acceptable), and be a current member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Excellent communication skills, strong references as an educator, and the ability to work in collaborative teams that include other health-related disciplines, such as exercise science, nursing, and healthcare administration, are essential. Candidates should demonstrate a philosophy in sympathy with the aims and objectives of a liberal arts college of the ELCA , which aspires to the goals for liberal learning and promotes becoming responsibly engaged in the world.
For tenure eligible, applicant must have earned a doctorate in nutrition, dietetics, or closely related field from an accredited institution ( ABD candidates are encouraged to apply, doctoral degree completed by starting date is preferred) and meet other minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience and/or familiarity with the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics ( ACEND ) accreditation standards; evidence of successful academic advising both at undergraduate and graduate levels; experience teaching at the graduate level (tenure eligible); experience supervising and encouraging student scholarly presentations, grants and/or publications; membership and involvement in professional organizations; record of research experience and peer-reviewed publications (tenure eligible); demonstrated understanding and commitment in promoting diversity; and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse colleagues and students.
