Role Summary/Purpose

Senior & Mid-Level Licensing Engineers will work under client direction to support the deployment of small modular, micro, and advanced reactor designs in the US, Canada, the UK, Poland, and possibly additional countries.


Essential Responsibilities

Licensing Support and Deliverables may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prepare and submit Licensing Topical Reports (LTRs) for any necessary pre-application licensing activities in accordance with national regulatory requirements and guidelines in the US (NRC), Canada, (CANDU), the UK (ONR), and/or Poland (PAA).
  • Prepare and submit Preliminary Safety Analysis Report (PSAR) and Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) documentation and/or any additional, required licensing documentation.
  • Support and conduct licensing and technical presentations to national regulatory groups regarding licensing activities, including pre-applications, reviews, approvals, future licensing applications, etc.
  • Prepare and conduct technical meetings with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory groups as necessary.
  • Prepare and review responses to the relevant regulatory groups, customers, and other stakeholders, including required correspondence.
  • Coordinate and/or attend internal and external meetings with clients, shareholders, regulatory groups, and others as directed.
  • Prepare and review any responses required per Requests for Additional Information (RAIs) as directed.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, scientific discipline, or other related technical fields.
  • Ten+ years interacting with the NRC, CANDU, ONR, PAA, and/or other national and/or international regulatory bodies on behalf of nuclear power plant license applicants and license holders for Senior-Level Licensing Engineers, three to five+ years’ experience for Mid-Level Licensing Engineers.
  • Experience with small modular, micro, and advanced reactor designs.
  • Experience with the IAEA.
  • Ability to interact with regulatory groups on behalf of nuclear power plant vendors during pre-application licensing activities and during license application submittals for construction and operation of small modular, micro, and advanced reactor designs in the US, Canada, the UK, and Poland.
  • Knowledge of US, Canadian, UK, and/or Polish nuclear regulatory processes and regulatory guidance, and the ability to prepare and supervise regulatory submittals and facilitate regulatory reviews and approvals in support of nuclear licensing applications.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities related to national regulations in areas such as/similar to NRC Regulations Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, specifically areas including, but not limited to, Part 20, 21, 30, 40, 50, 51, 52, 70, 71, 73, and 74.
  • Specific nuclear technical knowledge including, but not limited to, the areas of reactor fuel design, reactor pressure vessel valve design requirements, emergency core cooling system design requirements, dry containment design, normal operation evaluation, anticipated operational occurrences, design basis accidents, accident analysis, safety-related structural design requirements, radiological dose analyses, emergency planning zone requirements, and I&C design requirements.
  • Multi-lingual a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally & in writing, are a must.
  • Ability to work remotely, on-site, or travel as needed per regulatory and client requirements.
