SCOPE:

Paley Center seeks a temporary full time Museum Educator to research, develop, schedule, and facilitate Re-creating Radio Workshops, in addition to multi-session Podcast Production Workshops for teens and tweens, and media literacy classes for families and school groups. This is a non-exempt, hourly position and standard work week is Wednesday to Sunday.

Pay Rate: $28 - $30 per hour

Job responsibilities:

  • Schedule and lead re-creating radio workshops for weekday school groups and on weekends for families
  • Research, develop, schedule, and facilitate multi-session weekend Podcast Production Workshops for tweens and teens
  • Coordinate, design and lead family programming activities in conjunction with exhibits and special events
  • Oversee and schedule part-time freelance educators for re-creating radio workshops
  • Edit audio recordings and manage technical equipment
  • Assists with special projects or other duties as assigned


Qualifications/Skills:

  • 2+ years working with elementary and secondary students, either in a classroom setting or as a teaching artist/museum educator
  • Experience working with family audiences
  • Familiarity with object-based teaching, visual thinking strategies, and media literacy
  • Experience designing and implementing developmentally appropriate curricula
  • Experience in a supervisory role
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, plan ahead, anticipate and articulate program needs
  • Ability to problem-solve, be flexible, and imaginative
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfort with technology and technical equipment
  • Familiarity with radio history and podcasting
  • B.A. in English, History, Communications, Media Studies, Education, or related field. Master’s Degree a plus.
