Job Profile: Offshore Wind Discipline Engineer


Experience: Experience on commissioning and systems of a substation is essential. Below is a more comprehensive description of the overall role.


Location: Offshore and Onshore (based on project requirements, involving both office work and on-site management)


Reports To: Commissioning Manager / Project Manager


Job Summary: The Offshore Wind Discipline Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing specific engineering disciplines during the commissioning phase. This role involves ensuring that all systems and components within their discipline meet design specifications, performance standards, and regulatory requirements.


Rotation: 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off

Key Responsibilities:

Commissioning Planning and Coordination:

  • Develop detailed commissioning plans and procedures for their specific engineering discipline (e.g., electrical, mechanical, controls, structural).
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, construction teams, and subcontractors to ensure integrated and efficient commissioning activities.
  • Participate in pre-commissioning meetings to define scope, schedule, and requirements.

Execution and Technical Oversight:

  • Oversee the commissioning activities within their discipline, including testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of systems and components.
  • Ensure all equipment and systems are installed, tested, and commissioned according to design specifications and industry standards.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the commissioning team and contractors.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Implement and manage quality control processes for their discipline to ensure compliance with project standards and specifications.
  • Conduct inspections and tests to verify system performance and integrity.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed commissioning documentation, including test plans, reports, and inspection records.

Problem Resolution:

  • Identify and resolve technical issues that arise during the commissioning phase.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and vendors to troubleshoot and rectify problems.
  • Implement corrective actions to address non-conformities and ensure systems meet operational requirements.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for their discipline-related commissioning activities.
  • Provide regular updates to the Commissioning Manager and other project stakeholders on progress, issues, and risks.
  • Facilitate meetings and coordination between different engineering disciplines and project teams.

Safety and Environmental Compliance:

  • Ensure all commissioning activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct safety assessments and implement measures to minimise risks during commissioning.
  • Promote a strong safety culture within the commissioning team and among contractors.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date records of all commissioning activities, test results, and inspections.
  • Prepare and submit detailed commissioning reports to project management and regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure all documentation is accessible, accurate, and compliant with project and regulatory requirements.
