General Summary

The Mortgage Loan Processor is responsible for the processing of a mortgage loan from origination to funding. This position will support the Mortgage Loan Officers by collecting and reviewing the necessary documents and managing the transaction to ensure the closing deadline is met.

Essential Duties

  • Ensure timely and independent processing of mortgage loan files (in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and corporate policies and procedures) from origination through post settlement delivery.
  • Process loans through underwriting systems and review findings with the underwriter(s) and loan officer, clear conditions and note stipulations on the commitment letter.
  • Arranges loan settlement/closings; notifies all related participants and prepares the completed settlement package for closing.
  • Review signed settlement papers and HUD-1 for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with closing instructions.
  • Verifies and compiles application information for mortgage loans: Reviews residential loan application file to verify that application data is complete and meets establishment standards, including type and amount of mortgage, borrower assets, liabilities, and length of employment.
  • Compile all loan documents needed from all parties to the loan to effectively respond to all mortgage loan requests.
  • Prepares commitment letter(s), denial letter(s) and cancels files when necessary.
  • Maintains pipeline report and notifies management of status as needed.
  • Uploads loan data information to 3rd party lenders and completes the submission of packages.
  • Orders titles, appraisals, and obtain verification of deposit, verification of employment, and credit report.
  • Maintain excellent customer relations and the confidentiality of the customers personal information.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with clients, loan agents and third parties involved in the mortgage loan transaction
  • May be asked to attend the closing of a mortgage loan in the absence of the loan officer, representing Community First Bank.
  • Submittals to adhere with 3rd party compliance audits.
  • 3rd party quarterly audits (TENA).
  • Remain current on and adhere to all regulatory required training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education And Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 2-4 years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current or ability to register under the National Mortgage Licensing System

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of mortgage loan programs (conventional, FHA/VA, USDA), loan documentation and compliance.
  • Ability to organize projects, priorities, and excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to pay critical level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
  • Computer literacy, specifically with Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and data entry abilities.
