Minneapolis PR Strategist - Hybrid

Job Title: PR Strategist 

Reports To: PR Manager

Purpose: Step into a dynamic, client-facing role where you’ll develop and execute groundbreaking public relations strategies that make Lola Red the talk of the town. As a PR Strategist, you’ll be at the forefront of creative PR for the digital age, crafting and implementing campaigns that not only support client goals but also collaborate closely with our Digital + Social teams to create integrated, best-in-class experiences. Your strategic guidance and leadership will be the heartbeat of our PR efforts.

Focus Areas:

• 50% PR Execution: Drive the ongoing execution of top-tier PR accounts, ensuring our clients are always in the spotlight.
• 25% Strategic Guidance: Provide visionary PR guidance and leadership that inspires and directs our teams to work smarter and harder.
• 15% Client Management: Build and nurture client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and success.
• 10% New Business: Spearhead new business initiatives with innovative PR strategies.

Responsibilities:

Media Relations:

• Develop headline-grabbing public relations strategies and oversee their concept, execution, and reporting, making our clients the talk of the town.
• Support the team in crafting and finalizing internal and external documents including pitches, news releases, talking points, and more.
• Collaborate with Digital + Social teams to amplify integrated campaigns, thinking outside the atmosphere to ensure seamless execution across all channels.
• Provide strategic insight and expertise on holistic campaigns that address client challenges and goals.
• Leverage your stellar relationships with local, regional, and national media across all mediums to deliver exceptional results for our clients.
• Maintain a dynamic and close-knit network of freelance media professionals.
• Conduct media training sessions and interviews, ensuring clients are media-ready.
• Stay informed on current news impacting industries relevant to Lola Red and its clientele.

Leadership:

• Participate in weekly departmental meetings to align PR efforts, measure success, and identify solutions.
• Educate the PR team on effective and strategic public relations writing and messaging practices.
• Work with account teams to achieve KPIs, ensuring client satisfaction, growth, and retention.
• Act as a mentor and guide to the PR team, helping members grow personally and professionally.

Business Development:

• Collaborate with the growth team to craft strategic PR campaigns for new clients.
• Develop and execute presentations and proposals to close or help close new business opportunities.
• Identify and pursue new business prospects.
• Continuously research and monitor client industries to expand knowledge and identify upsell opportunities.
• Sustain and grow client relationships by delivering superior work, consistent results, and fresh ideas.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years in public relations, with a media relations background preferred.
• 2+ years of prior agency experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Strategic Communications, Marketing, or related field.
• Proven leadership experience in managing, guiding, and developing a team.
• 3+ years of client-facing interaction and strategic PR management.
• Strong understanding of the current media landscape and earned media strategies, with established relationships across media outlets.
• Exceptional project management and budgeting skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with excellent proofreading and editing abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
