Primary Purpose

The Metallurgical Key Account manager is responsible for the growth of current and new customers within the metallurgical industry. Primary alloys are Nickel, Manganese and 100 other alloys sold to melting and foundry operations.


Responsibilities

1. Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong customer relationships with

existing and new customers. Be the lead contact with customers from the metallurgical industry.

2. Focus on Growth: Educate customers on different products that we supply. Work with customers to quote new and recurring business on a timely basis. Execute our strategy to identify new customers to offer our breadth of products.

3. Internal Coordination: Collaborating with internal departments such as Production, Purchasing and Customer Service to ensure customer requests are fulfilled.

4. Market Analysis: Stay up to date with industry trends, market developments, and competitor

activities. Collecting and analyzing data concerning consumer behavior to understand changing

needs. Identify product improvement opportunities and new technology ideas while staying

current with market needs.

5. Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and agreements with customers, ensuring mutually

beneficial outcomes and alignment with company objectives.

6. Reporting and Planning: Prepare reports and presentations on account status and progress for

management. Develop annual sales planning and customer sales objectives while working with

various internal departments.

7. Professional Develpoment: Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in

training workshiops, reviewing professional publications, and creating personal networks.


Qualifications (R) required (P) preferred

(R) Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering or Business

Administration, or a related field.

(R) 30-50% Travel

(R) Experience selling alloys, including, Nickel and Ferro-Manganese to melting operations

(R) A minimum 8 years of sales or trading and key account management experience.

(R) Demonstrated ability of a growth mindset, problem solving, systems thinking, and team building.

(R) The ability to work in a fast-paced, multiple deadline-oriented work environment.

(R) Experience working with the steel industry, preferably with metal foundries and/or melt shops.
