The National Security Technology Accelerator (NSTXL) harvests innovative technology from the commercial and non-defense marketplace, ensuring the development of better defense capabilities. We offer a unique and simplified approach to rapidly develop, demonstrate, and assess prototypes that address a range of operational and installation needs, from individual Warfighter technology up to large-scale installation projects. NSTXL delivers technology to the Warfighter by serving as a one-stop shop to match government requirements with innovative private-sector and academic solutions.

Currently, our OTAs have more than 900 corporate, non-profit, educational, and financial institution members. For these members, NSTXL offers opportunities to bid on government contracts, education and training, and live/virtual forums covering a wide variety of topics.

Job Description

The Membership Manager will be responsible for the complete NSTXL membership experience. This role is focused on the strategy and execution of all membership activities including membership events, new member outreach, onboarding, and retention. They will obsess over the member journey, always looking for ways to engage and grow the network and represent the organization at membership and industry events. The Membership Manager will also be responsible for managing the Membership Coordinator and ensuring the functionality and accuracy of our membership database.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Create Exceptional Membership Experience: Build and maintain an engaging, thoughtful membership experience from application to renewal that supports a mission-ready membership base.
  • Event Representation and Planning: Act as a front-facing NSTXL representative at tradeshows, member meetings, and industry events. Collaborate with events team to host quarterly in-person member engagement and networking events.
  • Develop and implement membership growth campaigns: Strategically expand the membership network, analyzing market trends and competition to identify targets and opportunities. Work with the Creative team to develop engaging content and nurture campaigns to encourage new member registration.
  • Manage Member Data and Systems: Manage and optimize the membership portal and networking platforms to increase in engagement and improve the user experience. Work with the website development team to improve the membership experience. Collaborate with the Membership Coordinator to map, clean up, and manage workflows and data integrations across the portal and CRM systems.
  • Performance Analysis and Reporting: Report on member success initiatives and improvement plan/roadmap. Continuously collect member feedback via surveys and other interactions, disseminating all feedback across the organization and creating plans to address the recommendations and improve their experience and education.
  • Team Collaboration: Manage and mentor the Membership Coordinator. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including program marketing, growth, events, and creative, to ensure all membership requirements are met.
  • Innovate and Implement New Channels: Collaborate with leadership and various teams to increase the value of membership and develop new member benefits and services. Manage membership projects and deadlines using tools like content calendars and project management software (Monday.com).

Basic Qualifications

  • US citizen.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of marketing experience, 2+ years managing a membership community
  • 2+ years experience managing a team of 2 or more


Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Creativity and a passion to grow and nurture a membership community.
  • Ability to build and implement a comprehensive membership strategy and member success roadmap.
  • Comfortable speaking publicly, travelling and attending events, and networking with both industry and government representatives.
  • Deep understanding of customer journeys and lifecycles with experience creating acquisition, retention, and engagement strategies for member groups.
  • Advanced reporting skills with the ability to both collect data and use it to tell a story.
  • Experience directly managing one or more contributors.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and problem-solving skills to successfully coordinate multiple programs and adapt to unexpected requests.
  • Team player with a passion for creating exceptional experiences.
  • Enthusiasm for our mission and vision.
  • Knowledge of marketing automation, CRM and CMS, such as HubSpot or Wordpress and reporting platforms.
  • Experience with Canva or similar design programs, Adobe Design experience a plus.


Travel

Travel for this position is estimated at 30%.
