Senior Account Manager, Contracts @ Discover International

A Clinical Research Site local to the Miami area is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our clinical laboratory team.

The MLT will perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.


Key Responsibilities:

Specimen Collection and Processing:

Collect and prepare biological specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) for testing.

Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of specimens.

Prepare specimens for analysis by performing tasks such as centrifugation, aliquoting, and slide preparation.


Laboratory Testing:

Conduct routine and specialized tests in areas such as hematology, microbiology, chemistry, immunology, and molecular diagnostics.

Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is calibrated and functions correctly.

Perform quality control checks and troubleshoot any issues with test results or equipment.


Data Analysis and Reporting:

Analyze test results, identify any abnormalities, and report findings to the supervising medical technologist or laboratory manager.

Maintain accurate records of test results and patient information in the laboratory information system (LIS).


Compliance and Safety:

Adhere to all laboratory protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory guidelines (e.g., CLIA, CAP, OSHA).

Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the disposal of hazardous materials.


Collaboration and Communication:

Work collaboratively with other laboratory staff, healthcare professionals, and external partners.

Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and accurate test results.


Qualifications:

Associate degree in medical laboratory technology or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Certification by a recognized accrediting agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT).

Valid state licensure, if applicable.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.

Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.

Proficiency in using laboratory information systems (LIS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
