Callen-Lorde, a global LGBTQ+ community health center, is seeking a highly motivated Medical Biller & Coder to join our growing team. In this critical role, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely medical billing and coding for our patients.
As a Medical Biller & Coder, your responsibilities will include:
Process patient service charges and maintain accurate medical records electronically.
Assign and review ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes for medical encounters, ensuring compliance with FQHC guidelines and provider scope of practice.
Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims for various payers, including Trizetto clearinghouse.
Analyze denied claims, identify errors, and rebill with corrected codes.
Manage patient accounts, including sending statements, processing payments, and resolving billing inquiries.
Provide excellent customer service to patients, Callen-Lorde staff, and insurance companies.
Maintain a strong understanding of medical billing regulations and HIPAA compliance.
Participate in ongoing education and training opportunities to stay current on coding and billing practices.
Contribute to a collaborative team environment dedicated to providing exceptional care.

Education, Experience
Bachelors degree preferred, high school diploma required
Medical billing and coding experience required
AAPC certification required
Strong Internet, PC, and spreadsheet skills
