Mechanical Applications Engineer

Our very successful client, located in the Springfield, MA area, is seeking a multifaceted Engineer to join their already dynamic team. The selected Engineer will work to provide technical support to internal teams and customers on product specifications, technical considerations and timelines. They will work closely with the operators on the manufacturing floor assisting in continuous improvement efforts, troubleshooting tooling issues and minimizing downtime by overseeing and maintaining the Preventive Maintenance system. Design of new tooling, fixtures and prototype equipment will be included in those efforts. They will also collaborate with the Engineering Manager, Vendors and other internal departments to prepare cost estimates, work directly with the Sales Engineer to develop new applications and assist manufacturing with the evaluation of sources for raw materials and outside resources. Skills/Experience

• 5 years’ experience with a BS in Engineering, or 10+ hands on experience in a similar role.

• Exposure to metal joining processes (welding/weldments) especially laser welding or cutting, and precision machining highly desired.

• 3D solid modeling, preparation of fabrication documentation and GD&T is required. Autodesk Inventor or similar modeling tool expected.

• Hands on mechanical abilities needed for troubleshooting and assembling fixtures and equipment.

• Good communication skills both oral and written, previous customer interfacing experience beneficial.

• The ability to travel to Canada or domestically as needed (expected travel under 5% a year)
