Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

Must possess or be able to obtain a Secondary License with a Math Endorsement.

Must be able and willing to work in person, on site.

Hiring Incentive Program for 2024-2025 School Year

Eligibility Requirements for the 2024-2025 signing/relocation incentives

  • You must be a new employee who has not been employed in any certified capacity by Carlsbad Municipal Schools during the 2024-2025 school year(s).
  • The position hired must be a certified teacher or head principal.
  • Alternatively licensed employees do not qualify.
  • Administration will provide processes and administrative clarification decisions for specific situations that involve these incentives.

Incentive Amounts

  • Level III License (Masters and 6 years of experience or more OR NBCT Certification) $20,000
  • Level II License (BA/BS and 4 years of experience or more) $15,000
  • Level I License (BA and 0 to 3 years of experience) $10,000
  • Reciprocity- Those applying for reciprocity will automatically receive a Level 1 incentive amount. Once a NM teaching license is issued, the amount will be adjusted and back pay will be reimbursed to the employee.

Incentive Payment

  • ¼ on the first paycheck of the school year (August 15, 2024)
  • ¼ on the second semester paycheck (January 15, 2025)
  • ¼ on the end of year contract paycheck (June 30, 2025)
  • ¼ at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year (August 15, 2025)

Relocation Incentives

  • Employees living within a 50 mile radius from Carlsbad will be considered for the relocation incentive.
  • Up to 100 miles $2,500
  • 101 to 299 miles $3,500
  • 300 and above $4,500
  • You must provide proof of your current address in order to receive a relocation incentive. We will accept a mortgage statement or a utility bill dated within the last 30 days.

Prorated Incentives

Any hires made after August 1st, will not be eligible to receive a full incentive amount. All incentive payments will be prorated based on the number of contract days worked by the new hire.

Failure to Complete Terms of Contract: Failure to complete the terms of the employment contract in either of the two school years (2024-2025 and 2025-2026) will result in forfeiture of the entire signing/relocation incentive. The employee will be required to reimburse Carlsbad Municipal Schools for the amount received.
