Manages and directs activities of Material Control, including Production Control, Shipping, and Receiving departments. Manages development of current production plans, inventory levels, obsolete items, shipping and receiving status, customer service activities, vendor material delivery performance and engineering change coordination. Meets with related departments to resolve interdepartmental conflicts or problems. Investigates inaccuracies in inventory records and develops corrective actions.
Essential Functions:
Plans, manages and directs the activities of material control, shipping, and receiving departments to meet company goals.
Ensures current production plans meet future orders to achieve100% on-time delivery.
Manages activities of account planners, measuring complete and timely responses.
Negotiates and resolves customer “past due” orders.
Measures and controls inventory accuracy. Formulates corrective actions where required.
Meets with related departments to resolve interdepartmental conflicts or problems.
Coordinates material planning related to implementing engineering changes, controlling obsolescence and managing planned buildouts.
Cooperates in the response to abnormal shipping requirements due to quality or engineering concerns.
Prepares departmental budgets and controls departmental expenses.
Plans and directs continuous improvement activities in all respective departments.
Develops and maintains measurements to monitor performance and customer service ratings.
Manages inventory levels and turns to achieve company goals.
Schedule production effectively to meet customers needs.
Monitors forecast and adjust when necessary.
Coordinates forecast with sales.
Assures inventory turns in relation to FIFO.
Assures correct shipping procedures are consistently followed.
Assures that correct information is in computer for the material requirements.
Promotes an associate relations environment that is consistent with long term management objectives.
Qualifications
Essential Functions Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
Office environment with noise from computer peripherals such as mainframe, disk drives and printers.
Factory environment with noise from manufacturing equipment. Exposure to dangerous equipment.
Possible serious injury due to carelessness around equipment.
Job requires standing, walking, climbing stairs and sitting.
Sometimes lifts, carries or moves objects up to 25 pounds, occasionally over 40 pounds.
Ability to hear warnings from equipment, machines, vehicles and public-address systems.
Requires frequent reaching at or below shoulder height, some over shoulder work.
Requires frequent movement of head and neck.
Clothing and shoes must comply with current MIOSHA regulations and current dress code policy.
Use of a video display terminal (VDT) for periods in excess of 30 minutes at a time. Possible eye strain from extended periods of viewing VDT.
May spend time in travel between customers using an automobile in high traffic areas. Exposure to automobile accidents causing bodily damage
