Market Research Analyst - Product Focus

Matrix designs, manufactures, and sells innovative technological products that help keep people safe. Originally focused on the underground coal mining industry, Matrix has expanded into new industrial markets in the United States and globally.

Matrix Analytics is a growing analytics group founded in South Africa which now operates out of Lexington, KY as a subsidiary company of Matrix Design Group with employees based out of both South Africa and the US. The group’s analytics experience is oriented towards the mining space, where we integrate hardware, software, and analytics solutions to meet the needs of our clients.

The Market Research Analyst will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to provide insights into market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscapes. Employ qualitative and quantitative research methods (surveys, interviews, focus-group statistical analysis). Inform marketing and business strategies with data-driven insights and recommendations.

This position reports to the Director of Product, Planning, and Analysis.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Design and execute surveys, interviews, and focus groups to collect qualitative and quantitative data relevant to specific product requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify potential market segments, growth opportunities and key trends in the mining and industrial sectors.
  • Utilize statistical techniques and data analysis tools to analyze research findings and extract actionable insights to support product research and development efforts.
  • Translate market research findings into actionable recommendations for product development and improvement.
  • Monitor and analyze competitor activities, including product offerings, pricing strategies, marketing tactics and market positioning.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing research findings, insights, and recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Establishing new data gathering and analysis techniques within the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, product development, and sales, to incorporate research insights into strategic planning and decision-making processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in market research, data analysis, or related fields.
  • Experience applying market research to inform product development strategies in an engineering and product-driven environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of research methodologies, survey design, and qualitative/quantitative data analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with market research databases, industry reports, and online research tools.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis tools in Excel, SPSS, and SAS
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a pressured/high pace environment.
