White River Marine Group is looking for a Marine Electrical System Designer. The Electrical Designer works under the direction of the Electrical Engineering Manager and uses independent judgment to perform the day-to-day project duties of designing, developing and releasing detailed electrical drawings schematics for the marine vessel control panel(s) and harness assemblies. The Electrical Designer's responsibilities involve utilizing AutoCAD, Zuken E3 Harness software and 3D CAD software to generate electrical design documentation for marine vessels manufactured by White River Marine Group. This position requires a good understanding of electrical calculations and an understanding of electrical terms. Knowledge of marine vessel terminology and construction is a plus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Designs the wiring and produce documentation for the marine vessels electrical backbone.
- Understands electrical calculations for system design to assure the design meets regulations set by the governing bodies in the marine industry.
- Understands CAN Networks such as NMEA 2000 and J1939 and be able to integrate them into the electrical system.
- Works alone and stays on task while handling and prioritizing multiple projects.
- Works with internal and external teams to develop systems and new products for the marine industry.
- Works with the component sourcing team on component approval process for approval and substitute components approval.
- Knowledge of the American Yacht and Boat Council (ABYC) and Coast Guard rules and regulations a plus.
- ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree
- Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree specializing in Power Distribution
- Years of experience: 3 to 5 years
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
- Understanding Electrical Theory and Power Consumption
- Understanding of Engineering and New Product Development Processes
- 2D CAD software experience with AutoCAD, Zuken E3 is a plus.
- Catia and Dassault 3d Experience 3D CAD Software a plus.
- Microsoft Excel, Work, Powerpoint and Outlook.
- Microsoft Teams Experience a plus
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position is located within a comfortable office environment at White River Marine Group Headquarters in Springfield, MO. Projects may be co-located in a manufacturing plant and may involve frequent liaison trips to plants or local lakes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regular computer work, walking and sitting
- Occasional standing and lifting up to 50lbs
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
- Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
