JOB SUMMARY: The Accounting Managerprovides guidance, coordination and training to the staff processing accounts receivable, accounts payable and month end close. Responsible for developing and implementing strategy, controls, and processes to drive a high level of accountability and accuracy related to credit, collections, payables, and cash applications within the Company. This includes creating and driving a culture of controls that will improve the accuracy and transparency of the Company’s cash flow and protecting the Company’s assets by administering sound policies and procedures.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage all aspects of the full cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable process.
  • Responsible for customer collections and payments to suppliers for all of SMC.
  • Own and review AR/AP statements.
  • Overseeing routine department activities to ensure that they are completed accurately and on time.
  • Setting and facilitating the achievement of department objectives.
  • Enhance, develop, implement and enforce policies / procedures via systems to improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the for the company.
  • Manage expense reimbursement and purchasing card platforms.
  • Effectively motivate, coach, and mentor personnel in the finance organization.
  • Skilled backup for team roles if needed.
  • Provides analysis, reports and support to senior levels and external users relating to financial matters and operations.
  • Ensure appropriate sales tax capture and use tax withholding for domestic and foreign goods and services.
  • Fixed asset audit management.
  • Month end close and consolidations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or other business-related discipline and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulations, policies, procedures which apply to accounting, financing and ERP systems.
  • Sales and use tax proficiency.
  • Diverse knowledge in network systems and ERP applications.
  • Previous leadership experience and ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Excellent communication and intrapersonal skills.
  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous management experience.
  • Manufacturing background.
  • Multi-plant competence.
  • IQMS exposure a plus.

ADA Requirements

  • Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer.
  • Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about occasionally.
  • Lift, move, or otherwise transfer items up to 30 lbs. occasionally.
  • Occasional exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards.
  • Limited travel as needed.
