Maintenance & Reliability Manager - Fortune 500 Manufacturing Company


A major manufacturing company in the Chicago, IL area is seeking a Maintenance & Reliability Manager for their manufacturing plant. This role will oversee maintenance supervisors and indirect unionized skilled trade employees in a 24/7 food manufacturing environment. The right candidate will have an engineering degree, union leadership experience, and a strong track record of Maintenance & Reliability ownership from a strong company.


Compensation: $135,000 - $145,000 Base Salary + 12-14% bonus. Relocation Package / Sign-On Bonus. Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD, LTD, 401k match, 15-20 days PTO.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and enhance maintenance processes for optimal performance.
  • Implement Lean Six Sigma methodologies, focusing on zero breakdowns and preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Coach and mentor the maintenance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards and safety regulations and manage maintenance activities to maintain equipment efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Oversee predictive and preventive maintenance plans, utilizing data trends to inform decisions.
  • Coordinate training programs for maintenance and operations teams on best practices and improvements.
  • Utilize SAP PM for maintenance management, including work orders and spare parts inventory control.
  • Support the implementation of new projects through the Early Management Pillar Methodology.
  • Lead engineering and maintenance projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Participate in improvement groups and manage maintenance budgets effectively.
  • Provide prompt service to internal and external customers and maintain materials and equipment organization.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a Maintenance Leadership role.
  • Strong background in TPM, LEAN, Six Sigma, Safety & GMP standards.
  • Proficient in SAP PM module and spare parts management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in the food industry and a union environment is preferred.
