Responsible for leading continuous improvement efforts to achieve significant savings each year with a strong focus on energy utilization, production yield/waste, production cycle time, reliability-centered maintenance, safety, and environmental compliance, and associate utilization. Serves as backup for the Plant Manager, assisting in the support of daily operations (including weekend and evening shifts where required). Oversees the Maintenance Department to ensure that maintenance work orders are prioritized, PMs are completed on time, and that the department stays on budget for the Louisville Plant, Emulsion Plant, and Support Center.
Principal Responsibilities:
Uphold DDW’s Mission Statement, Quality Policy, and Values and Beliefs
Perform work accurately and reliably with proper thoroughness according to established procedures
Maintain proper work ethic, including being at work when scheduled, arriving on time, and being ready to work at the start of the workday or shift
Monitor the Preventative Maintenance system to ensure work orders are prioritized and completed on time
Provide technical expertise to the maintenance team
Create and maintain valve/actuator repair and replacement interval plan
Create and maintain pump repair/replacement program
Strategize maintenance planning with the maintenance lead
Analyze downtime events and complete Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
Minimize plant downtime
Quickly mobilize maintenance team to recover from downtime events
Manage program of mass meter calibrations/Temperature transmitters and pressure sensors
Utilize 5S strategy for operation of an organized maintenance shop
Track critical spares (e.g., Mechanical seals) and create stock system
Daily plant inspections – walk the production lines and check in with Maintenance Lead
Analyze Process Flow - Review P&ID’s and work with Plant Engineer for updates – add process measurements where needed to collect data
Ensure that all work is done safely, on time, with high-quality results, effective cost management, and in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices
Lead the Continuous Improvement/Sustainability Programs for cost savings, energy utilization, and maintenance
Troubleshoot abilities with PLCs
Coordinate with Controls Contractors – installation process improvements and troubleshooting
Ability to use process meters and diagnose complex issues utilizing data
Manage new equipment installations – utilizing MOC
Ensure that corrective actions address root causes and are completed in a timely and customer-responsive manner
Ensure that facilities are maintained and improved as required, including good housekeeping, general appearance, landscaping, and routine maintenance
Direct reporting responsibility for maintenance lead as well as any contractors
Ensure environmental compliance PMs are completed and signed off
Participate in the plant safety program and attend safety team meetings
Work with Plant Manager to ensure that environmental safety and Security systems and Preventive Maintenance standards are consistently met
Ensure that the safety coordinator is completing all safety PMs, safety team meetings, safety inspections, and other safety coordinator responsibilities as required
