Job Description

Summary

The Maintenance Engineering Manager assumes responsibility for the exterior and interior maintenance of the entire building and areas directly surrounding it and being able to perform the duties of the Director of Engineering in their absence.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience, all of our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all operating equipment
  • Able to respond to guest issues and communicate effectively with guests
  • Has the ability to respond to all emergency situations
  • Set-up training programs for engineering department staff
  • Assist Chief Engineer with departmental employee relations including hiring, reviews, training, coaching and discipline
  • Ensure effective communications and good relations between the Engineering Department and all other departments on property
  • Organize and schedule sub-contractors
  • Work without supervision
  • Process all related paperwork
  • Set up and carry out preventative maintenance programs
  • Maintains clear and uncluttered work areas
  • Able to work evenings and weekends
  • Make manager aware of guest's comments and complaint
  • Report to work in a neatly groomed and acceptable manner as outlined in the employee handbook
  • Report to shift on time
  • Comply with all policies and procedures for the Engineering Department, Residences at The Little Nell, and Aspen One
  • Is familiar with Property fire and safety procedures and assist in emergency and security procedures as directed by management
  • Complete tasks and projects delegated by your manager and assist other departments as business volumes and staff levels demand

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • 3 years facility management experience preferred
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Knowledgeable on all hotel mechanical equipment
  • Proficient on computers
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong background in building maintenance, including electrical, plumbing and HVAC
  • Knowledge of hotel operations and familiar with the construction process
  • Properly trained in advanced First Aid and CPR

Supervision Given and Received

Given: Exercises general supervision over maintenance engineering staff. Assigns a variety of routine tasks, sets general expectations of results expected within company’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Received: Works under limited supervision of the Director of Engineering. Receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing strategical methods to attain them. Can formulate policies but does not necessarily have final authority for approval. Review of work is not detailed and emphasizes accomplishment of broad work objectives, rather than specific assignments.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Ability to be on your feet, kneel and bend for extended periods of time
  • Regularly work in adverse conditions and requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements as well as an office environment and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to lift, push or pull occasionally up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
