Linux Systems Engineer

Our client, an innovative fintech company based in New York City, is seeking a mid to senior-level Linux Engineer. This role offers a hybrid work environment and the chance to work on cutting-edge financial technology solutions.

Role: Linux Engineer (Mid to Senior Level)

Type: Full-time

Salary: Up to 165k base plus many other incentives, bonus, stock incentives, 401k, Parental Leave, etc

Responsibilities include:

• Production System Support: Ensure the smooth operation of real-time trading applications by maintaining and supporting production systems. Participate in on-call rotations and serve as the primary point of escalation for any Linux-related issues.
• Infrastructure Management: Administer both production and non-production environments, including on-premises and cloud infrastructure. Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, conduct root cause analysis, and maintain high system availability.
• System and Ticket Management: Provide support for QA and development test environments. Respond promptly to service tickets and efficiently manage the ticket queue to resolve issues and meet team needs.
• Configuration and Upgrades: Oversee the administration, upgrading, and improvement of server configuration management platforms, such as Red Hat Satellite and Red Hat Ansible Tower, ensuring they are up-to-date and optimized.
• System Updates and Security Maintenance: Regularly update kernels, drivers, and firmware. Perform security patching to safeguard systems against vulnerabilities.
• Collaboration for Server Provisioning: Work in tandem with Development and IT teams to provision and configure servers for new projects, ensuring timely and accurate deployment.
• Technology Advancement: Stay updated with emerging technologies and introduce enhancements to improve the technology stack, fostering innovation and efficiency.
• Automation of Tasks: Develop and implement automation scripts to streamline routine tasks, reducing manual workload and improving operational efficiency.
• Additional Responsibilities: Take on additional tasks as required to support the team's goals and the organization's objectives, ensuring comprehensive and effective solutions.

Must have:

• Strong expertise in Linux system engineering and shell scripting.
• Extensive experience with AWS services and infrastructure management.
• Proficiency in Ansible for automation and configuration management.
• Deep knowledge of Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Comprehensive understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Problem-solving acumen and proactive approach.
• Experience in a mid to senior-level engineering role, with a focus on production environments.
