POSITION: Laxson Lighting Tech

STATUS: Part-time / Non-benefitted / Hourly / Non-exempt

COMPENSATION: $23.00 - $29.00 per hour

DEPARTMENT: Chico Performances

LOCATION: This position will be in-person at Chico State University's Laxson Auditorium with the possibility of working in other on-campus performing arts venues and outdoor special events.

RESIDENCY: Candidate must be a California resident. Chico State Enterprises is not a sponsoring agency for staff and management positions (i.e. H-1B Visas).


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Stagehand/lighting technician has the primary responsibility of performing any/all general theater/performing arts venue stagehand and lighting technician jobs and duties. Work hours are scheduled as needed and vary depending on artist load in/load out schedules, theater use and performance schedules, facility user needs and theater maintenance needs. Work should be expected to be completed on weekdays, weekends, evenings, early mornings, and occasional holidays. Work schedule will be as flexible as the production schedule and other work requirements allow.


Programming and operating lighting consoles, primarily ETC EOS family consoles.

Hanging and circuiting lighting instruments according to light plots.

Focusing lights for specific performance needs.

Operating or directing the use of follow spots.

Directing the reset of lighting instruments to a house standard plot as needed.

Performing routine maintenance of lighting and support equipment, including general theater equipment.

Inventory and organization of instruments, accessories, gels, and gobos.

Collaborating with other show/production crew/departments such as video, audio, com, carpentry, house, etc.

• Load-in and load-out of shows.

Programming and operating special effect units such as fog and haze machines.

Reading and creatingstage light-plots.


EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

One - two years prior basic stagehand/theater experience with emphasisin stage lighting/ programming / techniques.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to calmly,effectively, and professionally communicate to resolve conflicts, ask informed questions, and relay information to others.

Ability to work at heightsin catwalks, grids,personal lifts, etc.

Ability to work under pressure,manage multiple projects concurrently and meet production requirements and deadlines.

Ability to creativelysolve problems and foster a collaborative environment.

Familiarity with multiplelighting consoles would be preferable.

Familiarity with varioustypes of lightinginstruments and lightingnetworks including DMX, Artnet, aSCN,ETC Netl, Net2, Net3 would be preferable.

Basic rigging knowledge.

Experience supervising stagehands.

Other duties as assigned.
