We are looking for an experienced Law Clerk to support the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO), District of New Mexico. Your scope of work includes providing comprehensive witness management services, coordinating travel and lodging, preparing legal documents, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the seamless support of witnesses throughout their involvement in the judicial process.

Responsibilities
I. Witness Management
Coordinate travel arrangements for witnesses (e.g., contacting travel agencies, local transportation services and lodging)
Prepare and provide confirmed itineraries and necessary information to witnesses, USAO staff, and other relevant parties
Receives contact information for witnesses from the AUSA'S, Legal Assistants or Law Enforcement
Determine special needs, concerns, or indigent status of witnesses from the AUSA prior to contact
Ensure all travel information, appearance dates, and times are confirmed and communicated to witnesses
Coordinate with the U.S. Marshal Service for on-the-spot indigent witness payments
II. Document Preparation & Processing
Draft and process travel and lodging forms for witnesses
Generate and submit necessary documents for federal employees subpoenaed to testify
Prepare and submit DOJ vouchers for witness compensation to ensure all required documentation is included
Obtain additional information from other agencies/organizations
III. Communication & Support
Field phone calls and answer questions related to travel logistics and reimbursement processes for witnesses
Provide guidance to USAO personnel on witness-related expenses and reimbursement procedures
Draft memorandums related to witness work or school absences and submit them for approval
Coordinates with AUSA and staff on witness travel arrangements prior to trial or headings
IV. Administrative Duties
Maintain witness management records and files
Use automated systems to track cases, update records, and generate reports
Maintain a calendar to track court dates and witness appearances
Uses knowledge of the Government Travel Account (GTA) system to ensure all GTA accounts are billed correctly
Maintains GTA documentation, ensuring all fields have corlect data entdes and files all receipts as received
Prepares monthly PDF Portfolio's and credit card reconciliation packets for three separate GTAS
Maintains and organizes inventory voucher forms and monthly GTA reconciliation packets in an electronic database
Maintain an electronic database of finalized signed and dated hotel Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreements
Establish case and project files
Prepare and format management reports
Use word processing software for preparing and correcting reports/correspondence
Manipulate, transfer, compute, and print information
Schedule appointments
V. Customer Service
Deliver services in a victim-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive manner
Provide timely updates to supervisors on any issues requiring immediate attention
Respond to inquiries regarding case-related status
Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of legal procedures, office administration, data management preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
BACKGROUND
Progressive and relevant experience in logistics management, administrative support, and customer service
Proficient in Word Processing and data entry/retrieval
Highly organized and analytical
EDUCATION
High School Diploma required
Undergraduate Degree preferred
